What is Talksafe?
Talksafe is a counselling and peer mentoring service which is delivered face-to-face, online and through text and targets 10-18 year olds pan-London. The project has been made possible through a grant from the Big Lottery Fund.
Talksafe is a sexual health and emotional wellbeing service, connecting emotional wellbeing with the ability to make healthy sexual choices.
Talksafe is co-managed by two service managers. An Executive Board of 12 young people oversees the design, implementation and delivery of the project. Comprehensive and accredited training is given to the Executive Board members to help them in their role. The service is also delivered by both staff and volunteer counsellors and peer mentors. All staff counsellors are qualified counsellors and placement counsellors are advanced in their training. All counsellors and peer mentors receive regular supervision.
