Got a Question?
You can speak privately to a counsellor here for free.
Who is a counsellor?
We are adults who are trained to listen and support you. It's our job to listen to your problems and to try and help you solve them. You can talk about whatever you like. Find out about each of us at the bottom of the page.
How does it work?
Once you’ve read this page, you can register. This gives you the chance to tell us a bit about you and what's wrong.
In the next day or two we will email you to talk about how we might help. Then we'll arrange your first counselling session which can be on this website, on the phone, or face to face - it's up to you.
How long will I have counselling for?
We'll meet you every week for 12 weeks and each session is about an hour long. Sometimes people need fewer sessions and some need more. You'll always meet the same one of us.
What do I have to tell you about me?
You need to tell us what you want to be called (this doesn't have to be your real name) and your email address - all the other things we ask you are optional. All your information is stored securely and everything you tell us is confidential.
What’s confidentiality?
This means we won't tell anyone else without your permission. The only time we would is if we feel that you're danger, or someone else is. Then we'll always talk with you first before speaking to anyone else.
If this sounds good for you then why not start now?

Louisa
Hi there, I’m Louisa and I’m so pleased to be working with young people through Talksafe. I’m a qualified Child and Adolescent Counsellor with experience of working in schools, with families and with young people who come to Talksafe.I really enjoy my work and think that any young person who is thinking about counselling is taking a very important step forward. It can be really hard growing up but with the right support young people can reach their full potential and make the most of their own individual talents!

Andy
Hi, I’m Andy. I’m a qualified counsellor and have five years’ experience working with young people, including as a mentor in secondary schools. Talksafe is a very exciting service as it gives us the opportunity to help and support young people online and by text, as well as with face-to-face counselling.Counselling is a really positive way for anyone to think about themselves and their lives, and how they might make things better. Being young is full of challenges, but the chance to be involved in helping young people take control of difficult situations is why I love my job.

>**The next six years are a blur of grief, love and stress. All doled out with great iensntity and generally simultaneously.** This x1000 times this ^ Thanks for sharing your story and putting yourself out there. It's nice knowing there's other people who know what the day in and day out of caregiving it like. Friends and extended family have all said the same thing others here have said about being a "hero." I don't feel like a hero at all. I just feel tired. My little macro'd saying to people has always been, "She changed my diapers, I can change hers." But it's like having a 5'2" 110lb baby that's potty training in reverse. It doesn't end. I spent the first few years trying to handle it all on my own, mostly out of ignorance, not knowing about the many resources out there to help out people suffering with Alzheimer's as well as the caregivers. Respite care services are amazing. I found out about 5 years in that most states have services that work with foundations to train and pay family members an hourly wage (up to 40 hours a week, but it's still a 24 hour job) to [...] Was this answer helpful?
