What do the Heroes think?
There’s nothing for it, if you’re at school or college there’s always coursework and exams.
So what’s the best way to tackle them? Here are some tips:
• Stop procrastinating! If you get down to it early, it doesn’t become so overwhelming. It also keeps teachers and parents off your back.
• Find a mentor or learning buddy.
• Take a break! We work better if we build in regular short breaks.
• Reward yourself.
• Make a plan – and stick to it.
• Create a distraction-free space.
• Keep calm.
If you have a question or you are unsure about anything then ask a Talksafe Counsellor or Peer Mentor.

This section is really useful - goes really well with the Well Being Quiz!! Might be useful to put a section on Results because they can be just as stressful!!

You see I've gotten so used to being worried over exams, it's hard for me not to be. I do all of these things, work early... make a plan, etc, but it never takes away the agonizing nerves and sleepless night the week before, I dread it so much :(

It's nice knowing there's other people who know what the day in and day out of caregiving it like. Friends and extended family have all said the same thing others here have said about being a "hero." I don't feel like a hero at all. I just feel tired. My little macro'd saying to people has always been, "She changed my diapers, I can change hers." But it's like having a 5'2" 110lb baby that's potty training in reverse. It doesn't end. I spent the first few years trying to handle it all on my own, mostly out of ignorance, not knowing about the many resources out there to help out people suffering with Alzheimer's as well as the caregivers. Respite care services are amazing. I found out about 5 years in that most states have services that work with foundations to train and pay family members an hourly wage (up to 40 hours a week, but it's still a 24 hour job) to [...] Was this answer helpful?
