Find out moreBullying
Bullying can involve hitting, pushing, shoving, name-calling or mocking. It can involve making sure you get into trouble, stealing your things, your friends or isolating you.
What can I do?
• If you are being bullied the most important thing to do is talk to someone about it, even if it feels hard.
• If it feels too difficult to tell someone face-to-face, then perhaps you could write it down.
• Make sure you keep to public areas at break and lunchtime – bullies are far more likely to pick on you if you are isolated.
• Bullies will pick on something you feel vulnerable about. Try to show them you’re not bothered and they are more likely to stop.
• Team up with other people who are being bullied – there is strength in numbers.
Why do they do it?
Remember, it’s not you with the problem – bullies bully because they are fundamentally insecure. It’s their problem and their weakness. Tell somebody about it to stop the bullying.
If you have a question or you are unsure about anything then ask a Talksafe Counsellor or Peer Mentor.
